Diabetes
and erectile dysfunction: A case study of humor comics as a method of patient
education Humorous comics can be a valuable tool for discussing sensitive topics in health care. The combination of entertainment and a familiar presentation format help to disarm and intrigue readers, present difficult information in an easy-to-process way, and create a pleasant experience around painful subjects. As an example, I will discuss my creation of an educational humor comic on erectile dysfunction as a complication of diabetes. The presentation will cover the initial concept, the creative process, and the results of informal surveys with members of the target demographic.
